Grand Coulee Dam was built in 1933 and was called the Eighth Wonder of the World, "the biggest thing that man has ever done" to quote Woody Guthrie. 2008 is the 75th anniversary of the Dam and The Wanderers will celebrate the date by doing the songs that Woody wrote in 1941 about the Dam and the men and women who built it. The setting will be outdoors in a park at the foot of the Dam, no better place to do these songs!

The world lost one of the great singers and songwriters of the Folk Genre on Friday May 30, 2008 at almost precisely the same moment a tribute was being done for him at the Folklife Festival in Seattle. Bruce U. Utah Phillips passed away at his home in the California Gold Country. The Wanderers and Tom Rawson will do a tribute to Utah at Tumbleweed in a workshop setting where Utah fans can do their own favorute song or listen to Tom and the Wanderers do theirs.

The Lents Neighborhood of SE Portland presents the music of Woody Guthrie. Guthrie lived in an apartment in this neighborhood in May 1941 when he wrote his Columbia River songs. The apartment still stands today! The neighborhood is proud of this connection to Guthrie and will celebrate.
